Counselling and PsychotherapyWhat is counselling? Counselling provides you with an opportunity to explore situations that may be causing you distress. It can also enable you to gain insight and understanding, relating to a wide range of feelings you may be experiencing. With this new knowledge you can feel better equipped to deal with ongoing and future life situations, in a more constructive way. Counselling can also help to promote long term change and growth, allowing for greater independence and personal autonomy. Reasons why people choose counselling include:
Many people suffer from low self-esteem and can be bound by self-doubt, negative thinking and feelings of worthlessness. Consequently it can be difficult to break free to develop your full potential.
Sometimes we can feel as if we are in a dark hole; isolated and unable to see anything positive in our lives. This can affect our eating, sleeping and thinking, as well as our relationships with others. Our physical well being can also be affected.
Different people experience anxiety in different ways. Symptoms are varied and can include physical symptoms such as breathlessness, sweating, tight chest, sleep difficulties, dizziness. Certain situations can become frightening and restricting. Excessive anxiety can lead to panic attacks.
In today’s society, people may lead hectic lifestyles. Juggling the often-conflicting demands of work, family, and personal commitments can be overwhelming. Stress and anxiety are typical responses which, if ignored, can lead to further difficulties.
At times of loss we can become isolated and not know where to turn. Difficult feelings can overwhelm us |
